It may be a bit of a "wordy" story. But it's our story, it's cute, it involves many we love....and best of all - you KNOW we are sticking to it!!!
When our son Danny was in marching band at Mountain View High School, we made the best friends that anyone could ever wish for. Almost 10 years later - many of us are still very close friends.
We came to be known amongst ourselves as the "Band Gang" or the "Band Family".
When Bob and I got the opportunity to buy our little place from my mom and dad, it had always been referred to as "Summer Haven". That is the name of the development that it is in and quite a cute little name if I must say so myself!
Three of our couples friends all have places in Show Low. Show Low is physically lower than Pinetop. A lower elevation. So - they were all somewhat teasing us that we had gotten this place up on the "Plateau". Pretty much indicating that we were snobs! :) (Thus the "snobby" character on the Chateau on the Plateau sign.)
THEN - they got to see the place! WOW! What a HOOT! This place was TRASHED!
So - in typical Band Family style - they all just began to pitch in and work, work, work. It was amazing what we got done in one day with all of those hands.
My best buddie - Pammie then helped me many, many long days as we painted, and sang, and danced! Her hubby Greg was so much help when it came to BIG MAN STUFF! He has lots of nicknames. Lumberjack, caveman, wrestler...and indeed was quite a football player in his day. He did a task in 10 minutes that I had spent 3 hours getting about 1/4 of the way done!!
OK - so back to the name.
As the Band Family saw the place, had teased us so much about being "snobs" because we went and got a place in Pinetop - and not in Show Low, they then decided that it needed to be named....
The Chateau on the Plateau.
Pammie took the sign down that was up on the cabin, created our very own custom hand printed sign - complete with snooty faces on it, and it was completely official.
